Job Title Laboratory Technician
Reports To Operations Manager
Approved By Plant Manager

SUMMARY Responsible for safe operation laboratory equipment. Laboratory Technician task includes the operation of laboratory equipment for testing product from the production line, the silos, and final production of product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

In each of the duties listed below the employee is expected to perform to the highest standards of quality, to strive for maximum customer satisfaction, and to continually look for ways to improve the practices and procedures of this position.

Laboratory Technician operates equipment the safest possible way to assure no harm to human or equipment will occur.

Laboratory Technicians will support the Control Room Operators with quality tests as preformed.

Laboratory Technicians will record statistical information of the process and support data collection and other duties assigned.

Miscellaneous (Non-Supervisory)

Acts as a good steward of the Company’s resources and exemplifies the values of the Company.

Ensures personal compliance with all Company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules.

Maintains and promotes a safe work environment through ownership of Company/business unit safety programs. This includes following all safety rules/regulations and proper operating procedures, as well as the proper use of prescribed safety equipment pertinent to the department, and immediately reporting all accidents/incidents to supervisor.

Supports the Company’s equal employment opportunity and affirmative action policy and actions, immediately reporting violations to supervisor and/or the Human Resources representative.

Ensures that work area is free from any form of harassment (sexual, racial, religious, etc.), immediately reporting violations to supervisor and/or the Human Resources representative.

Supports Company’s quality and environmental policies and programs and meets quality requirements specified for position. Meets quality requirements specified by policies, work instructions, and procedures.

Actively participates in and successfully completes appropriate training. As appropriate, submits documentation of specific training to support successful completion (i.e. course description, certificate; Training Completed/Evaluation Form).

Meets with supervisor at least once per year to review job performance using this job description as a basis for appraisal.

Maintains complete security and confidentiality of all Company records and employee data.

Maintains a clean, orderly and professional work environment.

Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or government regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence and procedural instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, suppliers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to use a personal computer, working knowledge of Microsoft
Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions through root cause analysis. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Good verbal and written communication skills.
